Aden, Yemen – On Wednesday, the administrative body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council held the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi,
and the Muslim Brotherhood Party (Islah), fully and directly responsible for what happened to the port of Mukalla.
She warned of serious security, economic and humanitarian repercussions
that could result from what she described as “unilateral decisions”.
The body held its periodic meeting in the capital, Aden, chaired
by Essam Abdo Ali, Vice President of the National Assembly.
They discussed the latest developments in the south, particularly in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.
This is in addition to the political and security developments related
to the decisions issued by the head of the Presidential Leadership Council without consensus.
A dangerous gamble with the fate of the country
A statement issued after the meeting confirmed that the body “holds Rashad Al-Alimi
and those behind him who provide him with political cover responsible.”
Foremost among them is the Islah Party, known for its historical hostility towards the South,
which bears full responsibility for what happened in the port of Mukalla, and for any subsequent repercussions.”
She considered what happened to be “a dangerous gamble with the fate
of the country to serve narrow partisan agendas.”
The statement stressed the categorical rejection of what it described
as “unilateral decision-making on sovereign matters,”
emphasizing that it does not recognize any decisions taken outside the framework of partnership and consensus.
He pointed out that the declaration of the transfer of power criminalizes the hijacking
of collective decision-making and the transformation of the leadership council into a front for individual decisions.
The authority also confirmed that the decisions to declare a state of emergency
and impose a blockade on the south “do not represent the Presidential Leadership Council.”
It does not bind the South politically or nationally,” because it stems from
an individual will far removed from any real consensus.
A revealing political document
The Authority announced its full support for the joint statement issued
by a number of members of the Leadership Council who rejected Al-Alimi’s unilateral decision-making.
She considered it “a political document revealing his isolation within the council.”
Regarding regional relations, the Authority stressed that the South is not hostile to
any Arab country, especially Saudi Arabia.
She also praised the pivotal role of the UAE in establishing security and stability.
Combating terrorism in Hadramawt and the South in general,
stressing the continuation of the strategic partnership in this matter.
