Florida, USA – The White House announced an emergency change to the schedule of the anticipated meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting was scheduled to take place today at the Palm Beach resort in Florida.
Change the date and location of the meeting
According to an updated statement from the US administration, the bilateral meeting has been moved forward by two hours. It will now take place at 1:00 PM local time (9:00 PM Moscow time). The previous time was set for 3:00 PM. The meeting will be held in Palm Beach, where Trump’s residence and private golf club are located.
Trump: I have the final say.
In an interview with Politico ahead of the meeting, President Trump delivered a firm message. He asserted that any proposals Zelensky might put forward to resolve the Ukrainian crisis would not go into effect without his personal approval. Nevertheless, Trump expressed optimism, praising the prospects for reaching an agreement to end the conflict during his talks with the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky’s “20-point plan” under scrutiny
This meeting comes amid leaks about a peace document presented by Zelensky, containing 20 points that have sparked widespread controversy, the most prominent of which are:
Strong security guarantees: Demanding guarantees similar to “Article Five” of the NATO Charter.
Nuclear energy: A proposal for joint management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant with Washington.
Non-aggression pact: Signing an agreement with Moscow without including it in official Ukrainian legislation.
Military file: Refusal to withdraw Ukrainian forces according to previous Russian conditions.
Russian reactions
For his part, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov commented on the circulating reports. He stated that the plan currently being proposed by Kyiv “differs radically” from what is actually being discussed with Washington. He pointed out that the document lacks any details regarding the status of the Russian language or the substantive concessions that Moscow is demanding.
