Damascus, Syria – The extremist group known as “Saraya Ansar al-Sunna” claimed responsibility in a statement on Friday for detonating explosive devices inside a mosque in the city of Homs,
which, according to Syrian authorities, resulted in the death of at least eight people.
The group reported on ISIS’s “Dabiq” channel on Telegram: “The mujahideen of Ansar al-Sunna Brigades detonated,
In cooperation with mujahideen from another group, a number of explosive devices
were planted inside the Ali bin Abi Talib temple belonging to the Nusayris.”

Our attacks will continue
The group, which was founded shortly after the fall of the Assad regime a year ago, explained
It had previously claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing inside a church in Damascus in June,
saying, “Our attacks will continue to increase, and will target all infidels and apostates.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed today
that “an explosion occurred inside
the Imam Ali Mosque in Homs, in the Wadi al-Dahab area, resulting in deaths and injuries.”
The Syrian Ministry of Health stated: “8 people were killed and 18 injured
as a result of the explosion in a mosque in Homs.”
The Homs Media Directorate confirmed that “the explosion was caused
by an explosive device planted inside the mosque.”

Why Saraya Ansar al-Sunna?
The Al-Quds Brigades defines itself as “a new jihadist group in Syria
that has recently pledged to pursue members of the Alawite, Shiite, and Druze sects.”
It claimed responsibility for several killings and threatened to pursue those it called “Assad’s remnants”.
Although the group did not hide its contempt for President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s government, it did not call for confronting him.
This is also the case with armed groups considered loyal to ISIS.
This brings to mind the origins of the new group, which many observers
of terrorist groups in Syria believe owes allegiance to Turkey.
And it is the creation of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, from which al-Julani himself came.

Groups are based on interests
However, recent statements from Saraya Ansar al-Sunna raise serious questions
about the group’s allegiance to the ISIS terrorist organization.
However, the answer lies in the fact that the mosaic situation in Syria confirms that this is normal.
This is not surprising, as all these groups are based on interests,
and they will settle wherever there is an interest, even if it is with the enemies.
