Moscow, Russia – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned of a clash between Russia and NATO over the European Union’s actions, even in light of the recent balanced US policy.
The clash between Russia and NATO
Ryabkov said during a speech at a session of the Valdai International Discussion Club:
“The risk of a clash between Russia and NATO remains due to the actions of the European Union.”
Even under the current more balanced US policy that Washington is demonstrating towards Russia,
However, there remains a significant risk of a clash between Russia and NATO,
due to the inappropriate and hostile actions of European countries.
He stressed that Russia is showing the utmost restraint in response
to NATO’s provocative moves and is sending warning signals to its adversaries.
Preventing Russian-American rapprochement
He pointed out that France and Britain are moving to a new level of coordination in the nuclear field.
Russia is counting on avoiding a negative scenario after the end of the New START treaty.
He added that the Russian leadership is in the process of determining the criteria for responding to
the threats resulting from the West’s deployment of intermediate and short-range missiles.
He continued: “One of the most complicating factors is the European Union’s insistence
on preventing a Russian-American rapprochement to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.”
And to prevent any improvement in Russian-American relations.”
