Cairo, Egypt – As part of ongoing coordination and consultation between the two countries, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a telephone conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud.

Highlights
  • Strengthening relations and strategic partnerships
  • Developments in the Gaza Strip
  • Coordination regarding the Sudanese crisis

Strengthening relations and strategic partnerships

During the call, Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized Egypt’s pride in the deep-rooted and historical fraternal relations between the two countries. He also noted the growing momentum these relations are witnessing at various levels.

The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of building on this momentum and finalizing the arrangements for the first meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council. He affirmed that this meeting aims to reflect the shared political will to elevate the strategic partnership in a way that strengthens Arab interests and regional stability.

Developments in the Gaza Strip

The two ministers exchanged views on the developments in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdel-Aati emphasized key elements for sustaining the ceasefire and stressed the importance of ensuring its continuation.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of implementing the requirements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan. He also emphasized the necessity of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

The minister emphasized the importance of deploying the Temporary International Stabilization Force to monitor the ceasefire. It also aims to protect civilians and enable Palestinian forces to assume law enforcement responsibilities.

He stressed the need to ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid and to create conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.

Coordination regarding the Sudanese crisis

The call also addressed developments in Sudan. The two ministers emphasized the importance of continued coordination within the framework of the Quartet mechanism to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.

In this regard, Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized the importance of providing safe havens and secure humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of aid.

The Egyptian minister reiterated his country’s unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and stability of Sudan, and for preserving its national institutions.

At the conclusion of the call, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing close coordination and consultation in order to support regional stability and strengthen joint Arab action in confronting current challenges.
