Aden, Yemen – Anwar al-Tamimi, the official spokesman for the Southern Transitional Council, confirmed that the complete control of the southern forces over the governorates of Hadramawt
and Al-Mahra represents “a return of the situation to its normal course.”
This ended a security and administrative imbalance
that had lasted for more than three decades, gv
since the Muslim Brotherhood forces took control of the south in the 1994 war.
In a statement to “Sawt Al Emarat”, Al Tamimi said that the recent operation
aimed to “rectify matters and bring back those who have the ability to secure this vast territory.”
He stressed that the main goal is to “eliminate international smuggling gangs,
political Islam gangs, and arms and drug smuggling.”
Cutting off Houthi supply lines
Al-Tamimi pointed out that the southern forces, which he described
as “forces belonging to the people of the land,” succeeded in securing the liberated areas.
He stressed that the new control had decisively cut off “
the routes for smuggling weapons to the Houthis
through the deserts of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.”
The official spokesperson explained that the decision was made to
move the southern forces to replace the Muslim Brotherhood forces.
It came based on absolute confidence that the operation represented
an “urgent popular demand in the south”.
He stressed that the citizens were a “support and help” to the advancing forces,
which helped in completing the operation very quickly.
Al-Tamimi added that the elements of “courage and professionalism” played
a crucial role in achieving this rapid victory,
which made the transitions happen smoothly.
The next step: justice and the preservation of rights
Regarding the next stage, Al-Tamimi pointed out that the next step is
“to deal legally with any new developments.”
He emphasized the principle of “no punishment except by law,”
even for those who fought against the southern forces.
He stressed that the Transitional Council will work to preserve the public
and private rights and property of all citizens.
This includes military personnel who were part of the Muslim Brotherhood forces.
Their personal and business property will be protected unless
it is legally proven to have been looted.
Al-Tamimi concluded by emphasizing that the southern forces
will begin to block smuggling routes
and outlets and pursue arms and drug traffickers.
And all the outlaws who were taking refuge in these areas,
This was done in coordination with the Brotherhood forces that
were previously deployed in this vast geographical area.
