Cairo, Egypt – The US President’s senior advisor on Arab and African affairs, Massad Boulos, said on Thursday that the United States will remain “at the forefront of efforts to overcome divisions. It also seeks to achieve lasting peace in Libya.”

Paul added on the X platform that the United States issued a joint statement. This statement was signed by the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, France, Germany, and Italy. It also included Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The statement affirms these countries’ commitment to supporting the Libyan people’s demands for unity, stability, and prosperity.

Praise for the positive steps and diplomatic momentum

The US president’s advisor praised the recent positive steps taken in Libya, including the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the Libyan agreement on a unified development program.

Paulus affirmed that the United States “will continue to lead diplomatic initiatives” to assist the relevant Libyan parties. The goal is to capitalize on this momentum to achieve a vision of “a strong, prosperous, and unified Libya.”

The joint statement reflects intensive international and regional coordination to support the political process in Libya.
