Washington, DC – Several US lawmakers have sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s proposed plan for the war in Ukraine. They argue that the plan represents a free pass for Moscow and gives Russian President Vladimir Putin more room to dictate terms.
Members of Congress asserted that Trump’s proposal contradicts American and European national security interests. They explained that any initiative that reduces Washington’s support for Kyiv will weaken Ukraine’s position and be interpreted internationally as a retreat from American commitment.
The lawmakers pointed out that military and political aid to Ukraine is not simply support for an allied nation. Rather, it is part of a broader strategy to deter Moscow and prevent the expansion of its influence in Eastern Europe.
These statements come amid heated debate in Washington about the future of US support for Kyiv. This is accompanied by warnings that any settlement that fails to protect European security could open the door to serious repercussions in the coming years.
