Amman, Jordan – During a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to ensure the sustainability and consolidation of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

This would significantly contribute to restoring security and stability in the region.

The two leaders discussed the latest regional and international developments,

particularly the current de-escalation between Washington and Tehran.

They also discussed ways to support political and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

Supporting diplomatic efforts

King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed the need for coordinated action

by the international community to maintain the ceasefire and prevent its collapse.

He affirmed that regional stability is directly linked to the sustainability of existing understandings between the parties involved.

The two leaders emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic efforts to address contentious issues through dialogue.

They also stressed the need to avoid a return to the cycle of escalation that threatens regional and international security.

The discussions also touched upon European, Arab, and international efforts to support stability in the Middle East.

Both sides emphasized the necessity of strengthening coordination

among international partners to ensure the success of ongoing political processes.

They noted that the de-escalation between the United States and Iran presents a significant opportunity

to rebuild trust and creates a conducive environment for more comprehensive negotiations in the coming phase.

Regional security is a shared priority

The Jordanian monarch and the French president emphasized that stability in the Middle East is a shared priority,

given its direct impact on international security, energy markets, and global shipping.

Both sides stressed the importance of continuing efforts to prevent the escalation of tensions

and working towards sustainable political solutions to the region’s deepening crises.

These contacts come amidst intensive diplomatic activity in several international capitals,

aimed at consolidating the truce between Washington and Tehran

and preventing any further escalation that could threaten regional stability.
