Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) affirmed its rejection of any measures or steps related to the opening of an embassy for the so-called “Somaliland” in the city of Jerusalem,

considering such moves to be unacceptable and without any legal effect,

and a violation of international positions and resolutions related to the status of the city.

Respect for international laws and conventions

In a statement, the Council clarified that any unilateral actions concerning Jerusalem do not contribute to stability or peace efforts,

stressing the importance of adhering to established international frameworks

and UN resolutions regarding the legal and historical status of the Holy City.

It noted that the Gulf Cooperation Council’s position remains steadfast in supporting Palestinian rights,

emphasizing the necessity of respecting international laws and conventions and refraining

from any steps that would alter the existing situation or impose a new reality on the ground.

Political and diplomatic moves

The statement added that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) continues to emphasize the importance of intensifying international efforts

to achieve stability in the region and supporting political processes based on international law,

thereby contributing to the enhancement of regional security and peace.

The Council also stressed the necessity of joint action to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and to support all initiatives

aimed at reaching solutions that achieve security and stability and bolster the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.

This position comes amidst ongoing regional and international monitoring of developments related to the Palestinian issue

and the associated political and diplomatic initiatives that have garnered significant attention at both the regional and international levels.
