Amman, Jordan – Jordanian authorities announced the thwarting of six simultaneous attempts to smuggle narcotics across the kingdom’s eastern border.
This occurred during coordinated security operations carried out by the armed forces and relevant agencies in recent hours.
Vigilance of forces on the border strip
Jordan authorities explained that the smugglers attempted to exploit the nature of the border
and the timing of the operation to carry out their activities simultaneously.
However, the vigilance of the forces deployed along the border prevented these attempts from succeeding.
They confirmed that the clashes resulted in the seizure of quantities of narcotics.
Meanwhile, a number of those involved fled into the deeper part of the border.
They indicated that search and pursuit operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals.
Smuggling activities across borders are on the rise.
Jordan authorities emphasized their commitment to firmly implementing the rules of engagement.
They also affirmed that they will not tolerate any attempts to undermine the security
and stability of the Kingdom, particularly given the recent surge in smuggling activities across its borders.
These operations are part of Jordan’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and curb its flow across its borders.
This comes amidst escalating security challenges in the region.
