Ramallah, Palestine – In a message imbued with both humanitarian and spiritual significance, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) expressed his hope that the glorious Easter holiday would mark a new chapter of hope for the Palestinian people. This comes amidst the difficult circumstances and escalating challenges facing the Palestinian territories on both the political and humanitarian levels.
It carries deep symbolism
In a congratulatory message on the occasion of Easter, the President affirmed that Easter is not merely a religious occasion. It carries a profound symbolism of renewal, rebirth, and resilience in the face of adversity, values that resonate deeply with the suffering of the Palestinian people, who continue their steadfastness despite the mounting crises they face.
He noted that this occasion serves as a reminder of the values of love, tolerance, and coexistence—values the world needs today more than ever. Therefore, he called for strengthening these values among all peoples and across all segments of Palestinian society, thereby bolstering internal stability.
Current challenges
The Palestinian president stressed that achieving national unity remains the most important goal at this stage, as it is the true foundation for any political or social progress. He also affirmed that the current challenges require a comprehensive national alignment that places the supreme interest of the Palestinian people above all other considerations.
He further called for intensified regional and international efforts to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He urged action to end their ongoing suffering, leading to a just and comprehensive solution based on international law. This would guarantee the Palestinian people their right to freedom, independence, and the establishment of their independent state.
