Vatican – Italy – The Pope welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in the Middle East, expressing hope that this step will represent a real beginning toward ending the cycle of violence and tension that the region has been witnessing.
The Pope stated in official remarks that the ceasefire is an important opportunity that should be built upon to launch a serious path toward achieving lasting and just peace, preserving the rights of all peoples and ending the suffering of civilians.
The Pope called on all parties to fully commit to de-escalation and to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy over military escalation, stressing the need to protect innocent people and provide humanitarian aid to affected areas.
