Tehran – Iran: The Israeli military announced on Monday that it carried out overnight airstrikes targeting three airports in the capital Tehran. These strikes hit several Iranian aircraft and helicopters in a new escalation of military operations against the Iranian regime.
Details of the Airstrikes
According to an Israeli military statement, dozens of fighter jets struck military facilities at Bahram, Mehrabad, and Azmayesh airports. They targeted aircraft and helicopters used to transport weapons and funds to factions allied with the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The military stated that the strikes aim to reduce Iran’s air capabilities. In addition, they seek to disrupt external support operations for armed factions.
Military and Strategic Objectives
The statement indicated that Mehrabad Airport is primarily used by the Quds Force to transfer military equipment and weapons to allied entities in the region. The Israeli military added that the strikes are part of efforts to increase pressure on Iran. Moreover, they aim to impose restrictions on its military operations in the region amid ongoing tensions and escalation between Israel and Iran.
Impact on Regional Security
These airstrikes come at a time when the Middle East is witnessing increasing escalation. This happens with growing concerns about the impact of military operations on regional stability and civilian safety. Israeli forces continue exchanging statements with U.S. officials regarding targeting sensitive sites. Meanwhile, the Iranian regime shows strong resistance to external pressure, increasing the likelihood of continued military confrontations in the coming period.
