Tehran, Iran – This morning, the Islamic Republic of Iran witnessed a violent and unprecedented wave of airstrikes and simultaneous explosions targeting military installations, strategic sites, and residential areas across the country. These rapid developments occurred amidst intensive low-altitude flights by fighter jets and widespread activation of air defense systems in several provinces. Iran is currently on an unprecedented state of alert.
The capital and its suburbs are under fire
In Tehran province, residents endured a night of terror following loud explosions and intense air defense activity in the Narmak area.
A mysterious explosion was also reported on the bustling Vali-e-Asr Street, while the Pardis (phases 2 and 4) and Shahriar districts were subjected to heavy strikes. A direct hit on a residential building in the town of Vain was also reported. In neighboring Alborz province, airstrikes targeted a villa in Karaj, coinciding with six to seven consecutive explosions in the upper perimeter fence area, causing widespread panic. A massive explosion also rocked the town of Andisheh. These recent events in Iran are raising concerns both domestically and regionally.
Southern and eastern fronts: missiles and drones
The southern provinces were not spared from the escalation. In Khuzestan, the roar of fighter jet engines continued over the skies of Ahvaz.
In Fars province, sources reported the launch of two missiles from the Revolutionary Guard’s air force base in Larstan. One of the missiles was destroyed in the air immediately after launch, while two powerful explosions shook the city of Shiraz. In a significant development in Bushehr province (Jam region), three missiles were launched simultaneously, while the city of Jask in Hormozgan province was attacked by drones, which were met with heavy ground-based air defense fire. Events are unfolding rapidly in Iran despite efforts to control the situation.
Targeting ports and strategic bases
On the eastern border in Sistan and Baluchestan province, attacks focused on naval and military infrastructure, with reports indicating an attack on the Shahid Kalantari pier in the strategic port of Chabahar, as well as an attack on the Imam Ali base.
In Yazd province in central Iran, enemy aircraft continued low-altitude flights for hours, punctuated by several missile strikes. This series of attacks presents the Iranian defense system with its most severe test in decades, amid official silence regarding the extent of casualties, while field reports indicate significant damage to command and control logistical centers in various targeted regions. It is important to note that these developments could impact both Iran’s internal and regional situation.
