Paris, France – The President of the French Bishops’ Conference, Bishop Dominique Lavere, called for increased solidarity with Lebanon in light of the deep economic and social crises facing the Lebanese people. In official statements, Lavere emphasized the need for concerted international efforts to support Lebanon. He noted that solidarity is not limited to material aid, but also includes humanitarian support, education, healthcare, and backing local initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of citizens.
The Bishops’ Conference President added that the French Church will continue to launch awareness campaigns and donations to Lebanese charities. He called on civil society, humanitarian organizations, and the public to stand by Lebanon, especially during this critical period when the country needs the combined efforts of all human and international resources to confront the escalating economic and political challenges.
Lavere affirmed that solidarity with Lebanon is a moral and humanitarian imperative. He stressed that supporting the Lebanese people is a duty for all who believe in human values. He called for increased joint initiatives between France and other European countries to support social and economic stability in Lebanon.
