Tehran, Iran – Iran on Wednesday denied the validity of US President Donald Trump’s statements regarding its request for a ceasefire, stressing that these claims are “false” and have no basis in reality.
Official denial via Iranian television
Iranian state television quoted the Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that Trump’s announcement about Tehran requesting de-escalation was incorrect, stressing that Iran had not made any request for a ceasefire, and that these statements fall under the category of misleading information.
Media and political tensions escalate
This denial comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the parties exchanging conflicting statements about the course of the crisis, amid conflicting accounts of de-escalation efforts and the possibility of reaching an agreement to halt the escalation.
Differing positions on de-escalation
The Iranian statements reflect Tehran’s adherence to its position rejecting what it describes as American pressure, at a time when reports indicate unannounced diplomatic moves through international mediators to discuss ways to reduce tension, without yet reaching tangible results.
