Washington, DC – US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the United States is fully aware of the support that both China and Russia are providing to Iran.
He also stressed that Washington is taking the necessary measures to counter these actions.
This comes amid escalating conflict in the Middle East.
External support under observation
During a press briefing, Hegseth explained that his country is closely monitoring the nature of
the support Moscow and Beijing are providing to Tehran, both militarily and in terms of intelligence.
He emphasized that the United States does not disclose all the details of this support publicly,
but it takes action to counter it or mitigate its impact when necessary.
He indicated that the US administration has multiple options for dealing with these developments.
He noted that America’s actions are aimed at undermining any support
that might bolster Iran’s capabilities in the current confrontation.
Decline in Iranian capabilities
The US Secretary of Defense, citing intelligence reports, revealed a significant decline in the morale of the Iranian military.
He also noted widespread desertions within the armed forces and a shortage of key personnel.
He added that current military pressures have contributed to a sense of frustration among Iranian military leaders,
which, according to US assessments, has impacted their ability to conduct operations effectively.
decisive days in the conflict
Higgseth stressed that the next few days would be crucial in the course of the conflict.
He also affirmed that the United States had managed, in a short period, to establish a new reality on the ground.
He further mentioned his recent visit to American forces deployed
in the Middle East to observe the progress of military operations.
He emphasized that Washington continues to monitor developments
and take necessary measures in light of the evolving situation.
