Cairo, Egypt – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad announced today the success of its intensive efforts in resolving the crisis of transferring the bodies of a number of Egyptian citizens who passed away in the State of Kuwait during the past days due to natural and medical reasons.
Shipping the bodies and facilitating their return
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that arrangements have been completed to repatriate 10 bodies via a special charter flight, ensuring their swift arrival and burial in their hometowns among their families. In a related development, the Ministry also facilitated the return of 319 Egyptian citizens who had violated residency laws and were subsequently released. They were flown from Kuwait to Cairo to ensure their safety and regularize their legal status. This is part of the Ministry’s ongoing and close monitoring of the situation of the Egyptian community in Kuwait.
Regional coordination to ensure the safety of citizens
For his part, Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, explained that the Ministry is working around the clock in coordination with all relevant authorities to address any challenges that Egyptian citizens in Kuwait may face immediately. Ambassador El-Gohary praised the outstanding and fruitful level of coordination with both the Kuwaiti and Saudi authorities. He also emphasized that this regional cooperation played a pivotal role in the successful entry of several thousand Egyptians stranded in Kuwait into Saudi Arabia through the border crossings between the two countries. These efforts reflect the Egyptian leadership’s commitment to providing all means of support and assistance to its citizens abroad. This underscores that consular services are a top priority for Egyptian diplomacy, especially during times of crisis, to ensure the dignity and safety of every Egyptian citizen anywhere in the world.
