Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the government’s categorical rejection of any aggression or targeting of the Gulf Arab states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It emphasized its commitment to taking the necessary measures to confront security challenges in accordance with the constitution and the law.
Refusal to target neighboring countries
The ministry explained in an official statement that the security of brotherly Arab states is an integral part of Iraqi national security. It affirmed that the stability of the region is a shared interest of all its peoples. Furthermore, Iraq categorically rejects any actions that threaten the security of the Gulf states and Jordan.
Commitment to a balanced policy
Baghdad reaffirmed its commitment to a balanced foreign policy and to building relations based on cooperation and mutual respect with countries in the region and the world. It emphasized its efforts to reduce tensions and enhance security and stability in a way that serves common interests and prevents further escalation in the region.
Security coordination and prevention of land use
The ministry noted the ongoing coordination between Iraqi security agencies and their counterparts in brotherly and friendly nations. It affirmed its readiness to receive any information concerning potential attacks originating from Iraqi territory. Furthermore, it reiterated its rejection of the use of its territory for any aggression and its commitment to preserving national sovereignty and bolstering diplomatic efforts to end the war and return to political dialogue.
