Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has commented on the possibility of Brazilian Neymar da Silva missing the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Mbappe’s comments came amid growing speculation about Neymar’s possible absence from the upcoming World Cup, following his exclusion from the Brazilian national team’s training camp for March by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Brazil and France are scheduled to meet this evening, Thursday, in a friendly match as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
In a video interview with the Brazilian newspaper Globo, Mbappe said he could not imagine a World Cup without Neymar.
He added: “The World Cup is a tournament for stars, and Neymar is a big star, indeed one of the most prominent football players in recent years”.
He continued: “I can’t imagine a World Cup without Neymar, but I can’t go against my former coach Carlo Ancelotti”.
Mbappe concluded his remarks by saying: “I know Neymar very well, he will prepare perfectly, and he will be present at the World Cup”.
