Washington, DC – US Central Command (SENTCOM) officially announced on Monday that its forces had successfully destroyed a vital Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military facility dedicated to producing gas turbine engines for attack drones. The announcement was made in an official post on the command’s X account (formerly Twitter). CENTCOM identified the target as the “Qom factory” and confirmed that it served as a strategic artery for supplying the IRGC with essential components for its combat drones and parts necessary for its air fleet.
Documenting the mass destruction
U.S. Central Command released a detailed aerial photograph of the destroyed factory, showing the extensive damage inflicted by the airstrike. According to the statement, the image was taken on March 6th. This confirms the timing of the strike and its success in permanently disabling the factory. This action aims to cripple Iran’s offensive capabilities, which rely heavily on drones.
Week 4 of “A Struggle Without a Guide”
This significant military development marks the fourth consecutive week of the direct tripartite (American-Israeli-Iranian) conflict. This conflict erupted following the pivotal event of the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the age of 86. The destruction of the Qom factory represents a qualitative escalation in the Western target bank within Iranian territory. Washington and Tel Aviv are seeking to exploit the political vacuum and fragile transition in Tehran to dismantle the military infrastructure of the Revolutionary Guard and diminish its regional influence.
