London, Britain – The British newspaper the Daily Mail revealed the arrival of an advanced British nuclear submarine in the Arabian Sea. This move gives the United Kingdom a significant capability to carry out long-range surgical strikes using Tomahawk cruise missiles. This comes amidst uncertainty surrounding the course of escalating regional conflicts.
The newspaper reported that the submarine HMS Anson – the crown jewel of the British fleet – has traveled nearly 5,500 miles since departing Perth earlier this month. It is now stationed in a strategic location overlooking turbulent waterways.
HMS Anson boasts formidable weaponry, relying on highly accurate Tomahawk cruise missiles for its attacks. In addition, it utilizes Spearfish anti-submarine and anti-ship torpedoes.
This intensified military deployment follows a decisive political decision by the British Prime Minister’s office. This decision granted the United States full authorization to use British bases in the region. It also included the authority to launch military operations against Iranian facilities that pose a direct threat to the Strait of Hormuz.
While the British Ministry of Defence has not issued an official statement regarding the submarine’s movements, the presence of the USS Anson in the Arabian Sea is clearly interpreted as a strong deterrent message. This also reinforces the close military coordination between Washington and London in the face of any potential escalation aimed at securing global energy supplies.
