Tehran, Iran – Israel distanced itself from the attack that targeted Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, at a time when reports suggested that the US may have been behind the operation,
while Russia condemned the attack and considered it a violation of international law.
Israeli denial and hint at American involvement
The Israel military confirmed it was unaware of any airstrike on the Natanz facility,
denying responsibility for the attack reported in the media.
It indicated it could not comment on potential US operations,
amid reports of bunker-buster bombs being used in the attack on the site.
Iranian assurances that no radiation leak occurred
For their part, Iranian authorities, primarily the Atomic Energy Organization,
announced that no radiation leak had been detected as a result of the attack,
confirming that the area surrounding the facility was safe and posed no threat to the population.
Reports also indicated that there were no casualties.
Russian warnings and condemnation
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the attack,
calling it a “flagrant violation of international law.”
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed it had received notification
from Iran regarding the attack on the Natanz facility,
amid growing international concern about the implications of targeting nuclear facilities for regional security.
