Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain on Saturday for an official visit. He was received at Sakhir Air Base by Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This visit comes at a crucial time, reflecting the deep historical ties and high level of strategic coordination between Cairo and Manama, particularly in light of the rapidly changing regional landscape.
According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the two leaders held extensive talks that addressed ways to strengthen the close fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, in addition to reviewing the latest regional and international developments.
During the meeting, King Hamad bin Isa warmly welcomed President El-Sisi. He also emphasized his pride in this visit, which embodies a shared destiny and the deep-rooted relations that are firmly established in the history of both countries.
The King of Bahrain emphasized Egypt’s leading and pivotal role, describing it as a “fundamental pillar” in supporting regional security and stability. He also expressed his deep appreciation for Cairo’s unwavering and consistent support for the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
His Majesty clearly indicated that this support is of paramount importance in light of current challenges, particularly in confronting the ongoing threats and attacks targeting the territories of the region’s countries. He affirmed that Egyptian-Gulf cooperation remains the cornerstone for safeguarding Arab resources.
For his part, President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, affirming Egypt’s unwavering commitment to the security of the Gulf, which it considers an integral part of its own national security. He also commended Bahrain’s supportive stance towards Egypt. Furthermore, he noted that the current phase necessitates intensified consultation and coordination to counter attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Arab states or destabilize them. The talks concluded with both leaders emphasizing the need to strengthen joint Arab action and unify international visions and positions to confront aggression. They also stressed the importance of ensuring the protection of national sovereignty and safeguarding the vital interests of the region’s peoples, thus guaranteeing a future of peace and development.
