NEW DELHI, India – Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, paid a working visit to New Delhi on Thursday.
During which she met with Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India, and Vikram Misri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Review of current regional developments
The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
In addition to reviewing current regional developments and the repercussions of Iranian terrorist missile attacks on security and stability in the region.
As well as its impact on the global economy and energy supply security.
The talks also addressed the importance of protecting maritime security, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for global energy supplies and international trade.
The two sides stressed the need to ensure and protect freedom of navigation in a way that supports regional and international stability.
Her Excellency stressed that the treacherous attacks to which the UAE and the countries of the region are exposed represent a serious violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and international humanitarian law. It violates the sovereignty of states, directly threatens their security and stability, and disrupts global trade and maritime routes.
Her Excellency stressed that the UAE does not hesitate to protect its sovereignty, and reserves its full right to self-defense, its security and its national gains.
It also seeks sustainable regional stability based on respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their affairs.
Iran is responsible for damages and losses
Her Excellency explained that Security Council Resolution No. 2817, which was co-sponsored by 136 member states of the United Nations and calls on Iran to immediately and unconditionally stop these attacks, confirms its full responsibility for all damages and losses suffered by the affected countries.
She considered that the resolution sends a clear and unified message that the international community will not tolerate attacks on the sovereignty of states or the deliberate targeting of civilians and vital infrastructure.
She stressed that these actions constitute a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security, and called for an immediate cessation of these attacks and provocations.
She also referred to the IMO Council resolution, which was adopted on Thursday during the thirty-sixth extraordinary session of the Council and was co-sponsored by more than 115 member states, which is the largest number of countries sponsoring a resolution in the history of the organization, which strongly condemns Iranian threats and attacks.
It also calls on Iran to immediately refrain from any aggressive actions or threats.
