Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced early Friday morning that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed 15 explosive-laden drones. These drones were launched towards the Al-Jawf and Eastern regions in a new escalation of hostilities that was thwarted with high combat efficiency.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki al-Maliki, stated in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that defense systems successfully detected and intercepted a drone in the skies over the Al-Jawf region. Simultaneously, the Eastern Province witnessed intense defense activity, with forces successfully destroying 14 other drones in two successive waves. The first wave involved the interception of five drones, followed by a second wave in which an additional nine drones were destroyed.
Protection of civilian objects
Major General Al-Maliki affirmed that the Royal Saudi Air Force and Air Defense Forces are fully prepared to address the imminent threats. He emphasized that these hostile attempts deliberately and systematically targeted civilian infrastructure and vital facilities. He noted that the interception of these aircraft was successful, with no casualties or material damage reported in populated areas. This was achieved thanks to the Kingdom’s constant vigilance and advanced capabilities in countering such sophisticated attacks.

These operations come amid escalating regional tensions. The Ministry of Defense affirmed that it has taken all necessary operational measures to neutralize and destroy the sources of the threat, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.

It also affirmed that the armed forces will continue to fulfill their national duty to protect the nation’s resources and the safety of citizens and residents on its territory from any external aggression aimed at destabilizing security and stability in the region.
