Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese authorities have placed 400 educational facilities at the disposal of the displaced persons agency in an exceptional move aimed at addressing the overcrowding crisis in schools resulting from the increasing number of displaced students.
This initiative is part of an urgent plan to ensure the continuity of education for children in a safe and organized environment. It also aims to temporarily integrate displaced students into the Lebanese education system without disrupting the studies of Lebanese students.
The authority confirmed that the facilities will be used to provide additional classrooms and intensive educational courses, and that school infrastructure will be strengthened to meet all students’ needs and guarantee their educational rights.
The Lebanese education sector is facing increasing pressure with the continued influx of displaced persons. Therefore, supporting existing schools and providing additional facilities has become vital to maintaining the stability of education. This also ensures children’s right to education in a sustainable manner.
