Tel Aviv, Israel – The Israeli military announced its intention to carry out strikes targeting crossings on the Litani River. This comes as part of a military escalation aimed at cutting off what it described as weapons supply lines to Hezbollah.
Targeting crossings and supply lines
Israeli military spokesman Avichai Adraee explained that the anticipated operations aim to prevent the transfer of weapons and personnel to southern Lebanon. He also indicated that the strikes would begin at noon today, as part of what he described as precise and wide-ranging operations.
Warnings and area evacuations
The Israeli army called on residents to head north of the Zahrani River, warning against moving south. It also issued an urgent evacuation order for the city of Tyre and surrounding areas, in preparation for strikes on sites it claimed belonged to Hezbollah.
Continued escalation in the south
This development comes amid escalating military operations in southern Lebanon, where Israel has previously targeted infrastructure along the Litani River. This is occurring against a backdrop of warnings about humanitarian consequences, particularly given that international law prohibits targeting civilian infrastructure, including bridges and crossings.
