Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the commencement of the evacuation of the first group of Iraqi citizens stranded in Beirut, as part of urgent diplomatic efforts to ensure their safe return to Amman and then to their homeland.
The Ministry confirmed that this operation is being carried out in full coordination with the Lebanese and Jordanian authorities. This aims to facilitate logistical procedures and ensure the comfort of citizens during transport. Dedicated flights have been arranged to transport the stranded citizens, and all health and diplomatic safety standards have been adhered to.
A ministry official indicated that the operation will proceed in several phases to include all Iraqis stranded in Lebanon. The Iraqi embassy in Beirut will provide them with full support, including temporary accommodation and medical services if needed.
This step reflects Iraq’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad. Furthermore, Iraq aims to ensure their organized return following the suspension of some flights due to regional crises and ongoing health restrictions.
