Beirut, Lebanon – In a move reflecting the Lebanese authorities’ commitment to their recent sovereign decisions, Beirut strongly condemned on Tuesday the “terrorist plot” targeting the sisterly State of Kuwait. It also denounced the involvement of Hezbollah elements in these subversive activities uncovered by Kuwaiti security services.
Unequivocal condemnation and full solidarity
The Lebanon Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement expressing its “strong condemnation” of the plot targeting Kuwait’s sovereignty and security. The Ministry emphasized its condemnation of the involvement of the Lebanese group Hezbollah in this act. It also reiterated the government decision issued on March 2nd, which officially banned all military and security activities of the group. Furthermore, the Ministry expressed Lebanon’s full solidarity with Kuwait and commended the vigilance of its security services. It also affirmed its complete readiness to cooperate in the ongoing investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Details of the sabotage cell
The Lebanon stance comes after the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced on Monday evening
the dismantling of a 16-member cell (14 Kuwaitis and two Lebanese) linked to Hezbollah.
Kuwaiti Interior Ministry spokesman Nasser Bouslaib explained that the cell was operating
within an “organized sabotage plot” aimed at destabilizing the country.
Kuwaiti authorities found a significant arsenal of technical and military equipment in the cell’s possession.
This arsenal included firearms and various types of ammunition.
They also discovered a weapon designed for assassinations, Morse code communication devices, drones, and maps of vital locations.
In addition, narcotics, training weapons, and Hezbollah flags and images were seized.
The party remained silent
While Kuwait continues its investigations into the group members, whose identities have not yet been revealed, Hezbollah has not issued any official comment on the Kuwaiti accusations or the Lebanese condemnation.
The international community is closely monitoring the Lebanese government’s commitment to implementing the recent ban. This is particularly important given the current regional tensions.
Moreover, the Gulf states are demanding concrete security guarantees.
