Tel Aviv, Israel – Israel’s Channel 13 reported that assessments within the Israeli security establishment indicate the war with Hezbollah in Lebanon could last for many months. This comes amid escalating clashes on the northern front.

Israeli security assessments

The channel reported that assessments from Israeli military and security sources indicate the conflict could escalate into a protracted confrontation. This comes in light of the complex situation on the ground and the continued exchange of attacks between the two sides.

It explained that these assessments are part of monitoring the rapidly evolving military developments on the Lebanese-Israeli border. Furthermore, concerns are growing about a potential expansion of the operations.

Ongoing military preparations

Reports indicate that the Israeli army is continuing its preparations for a prolonged fighting scenario. This includes reinforcing military deployments and raising the level of readiness on the northern front.

Military commanders are also continuously assessing the situation on the ground. This is done to determine the nature of future military operations and options for dealing with potential developments.

Fears of regional escalation

These assessments come amid growing concerns about a wider confrontation in the region, particularly given the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. There is also the possibility of other parties becoming involved in the conflict.

Observers believe that a prolonged fighting could have far-reaching security and humanitarian consequences. This, in turn, increases international pressure to contain the escalation and prevent the confrontation from turning into a broader regional war.
