Erbil, Iraq – Security sources reported that a drone targeted the Lanaz oil refinery in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq. The attack caused a fire at the facility, but there was no immediate word on the extent of the damage or any casualties.
A fire broke out inside the facility
Sources indicated that the attack caused a fire within parts of the refinery. Firefighters rushed to the scene to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other facilities within the oil complex. They added that the relevant authorities have launched a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible. Security measures and investigations
In response, security forces have reinforced their presence around vital installations within the city. Meanwhile, specialized agencies are continuing to gather information and analyze evidence to determine the nature of the attack and the perpetrators. An official statement from Iraqi authorities detailing the incident and the extent of the damage is expected in the coming hours.
