Washington, DC – An advisor to US President Donald Trump warned that continued military escalation with Iran could lead the region to a “catastrophic” phase. He urged the US administration to declare victory quickly and end its military involvement before the confrontation widens.
The advisor, in remarks reported by US media outlets, said that the United States has already achieved its primary military objectives in the confrontation with Iran. He indicated that continuing operations could open the door to more serious repercussions for regional stability and the global economy.
He explained that the wisest option at this stage is to declare the achievement of military and political objectives and then begin a gradual withdrawal of forces from the theater of operations, in order to avoid sliding into a protracted war that could exhaust everyone.
He added that any further escalation could push other parties in the region to become directly involved in the conflict. This could transform the confrontation into a wider regional conflict that would be difficult to contain.
He indicated that the United States should focus at this stage on consolidating its political and military gains. In addition, diplomatic channels should be pursued to reduce tensions and prevent the situation in the Middle East from spiraling out of control.
This call comes at a time of growing international concern about the widening conflict between Washington and Tehran. The sensitivity of the Gulf region and the importance of vital maritime routes, especially the Strait of Hormuz, exacerbate this risk. This strait represents a crucial artery for the flow of energy to global markets.
