Muscat, Oman – A pall of grief descended upon the Sultanate of Oman this morning, Thursday, following the announcement by the Royal Court of the death of His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs. His passing comes after a long and distinguished career of national and political service spanning many decades.

In an official statement issued by the Royal Court, the deceased was mourned with moving words that recalled his dedication and devotion to serving Oman. The statement read: “With hearts believing in God’s will and decree, the Royal Court mourns the passing of His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, may God have mercy on him, who passed away this morning (Thursday), the 22nd of Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to the 12th of March 2026.” The statement affirmed that the deceased spent his life devoted and dedicated to serving the beloved nation since the dawn of the blessed Renaissance. He also contributed his intellect and wisdom to building the foundations of the modern state and strengthening its regional and international standing.

Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said is considered one of the most prominent political figures who witnessed the building of the modern Sultanate. Since assuming the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs, he was known for his pivotal role in coordinating the state’s public policies. He also managed executive affairs with high efficiency, making him a widely respected administrative and political authority.
