Kuwait – Kuwaiti authorities announced today that six main power lines were taken out of service due to debris from drones intercepted while attempting to target the country. They confirmed that maintenance teams are working to fully restore the network as quickly as possible.
The official spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water stated that the drones did not directly hit the facilities. However, the debris from the interception caused minor damage to one of the transmission lines. As a result, power was temporarily cut off in some areas, with no injuries reported.
The Kuwaiti government affirmed its commitment to strengthening security measures and protecting vital infrastructure. It also stressed that these attacks will not affect the country’s ability to provide electricity to all citizens and essential facilities.
Kuwait reiterated its call to the international community to pressure those responsible for the attacks to ensure they do not recur. It considers targeting infrastructure a threat to regional security and stability. Furthermore, it reflects a dangerous escalation in the region.
This announcement follows a series of repeated drone attacks in the Gulf states. As a result, concerns have increased regarding the security of energy supplies and the stability of vital infrastructure in the region.
