Manama, Bahrain – In a statement reflecting the scale of the security challenges and the high level of military readiness, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force announced today, Thursday, that its air defense systems successfully intercepted a series of intense aerial attacks. These attacks were launched by Iranian forces against the Kingdom’s territory since the beginning of the “brutal Iranian aggression” against the region.
Results of interception operations
The General Command, in a statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), revealed that the combat efficiency and constant vigilance of the air defense crews resulted in the interception and destruction of a total of 112 ballistic missiles and 186 explosive-laden drones. It explained that these weapons were precisely targeted at vital installations, civilian infrastructure, and private property in various areas of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This was an attempt to destabilize the country and terrorize its citizens.
Violation of international law
The Bahrain Defence Force affirmed that the Iranian regime’s continued use of ballistic missiles and drones to target civilians and residential areas “constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter.” The Command stressed that these “heinous and indiscriminate” attacks not only represent an assault on the Kingdom’s sovereignty but also pose a direct and serious threat to regional and international peace and security. Furthermore, they reveal aggressive intentions that disregard all international conventions and the rights of good neighborliness.
Combat readiness and protection of sovereignty
The General Command reiterated that the Bahrain Defense Force, in coordination with security agencies and allies, continues to fulfill its national responsibilities in protecting the Kingdom’s borders and airspace with unwavering resolve and strength. It noted that Bahrain’s advanced defense systems have proven highly effective in neutralizing aerial threats before they reach their targets. The Command emphasized that the nation’s security and stability are a “red line” that will not be crossed. This announcement comes amidst an unprecedented military escalation in the region. Civilian and economic facilities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have become direct targets of Iranian attacks. Consequently, maintaining a state of maximum readiness and activating joint defense agreements is essential to deter any future aggression.
