Cairo, Egypt – The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the UAE Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq using a drone. The attack resulted in material damage but no injuries.
Condemnation of the attack on the consulate
The Council affirmed in a statement that this treacherous terrorist attack constitutes a grave assault on diplomatic missions and premises. It also stressed its categorical rejection of such acts, which violate international norms and laws.
The statement indicated that targeting diplomatic facilities is a flagrant violation of international law. Furthermore, it represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.
Rejection of attacks on Arab countries
The Muslim Council of Elders reiterated its condemnation of the recent attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and several other Arab countries. It also called for confronting such acts that threaten regional security and stability.
The Council stressed the importance of respecting international norms that guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions. It emphasized the need to counter any attempts to undermine security and stability in the region.
