Tehran, Iran – The Iranian military accused the United States of using Middle Eastern civilians as “human shields” amid the ongoing military escalation in the region. It asserted that the US military presence in several countries exposes civilians to increasing risks due to the escalating confrontations.
A statement issued by the Iranian armed forces said that US military bases and installations deployed in several countries in the region are now located close to populated residential areas. Tehran considers this a direct threat to civilians, exposing them to the danger of attacks and retaliatory military responses.
Serious humanitarian consequences
The statement added that Washington, as it put it, relies on its military presence within vital and populated areas to secure its forces and strategic interests. It also warned that the continuation of this approach could lead to serious humanitarian consequences should the scope of military confrontations widen.
The Iranian military indicated that the current military escalation reflects, as it described it, the policy of “military adventurism” pursued by the United States in the Middle East. It affirmed that Tehran will continue to defend its interests and national security against any threats.
These statements come amid escalating military tensions between Iran and the United States, with continued strikes and attacks exchanged in several areas. This increases international concerns about the potential for the conflict to expand and its impact on the stability of the Middle East.
