Doha, Qatar – The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan.
It also considered it an unacceptable act that constitutes a flagrant violation of international norms and conventions that guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their headquarters.
Clear violation of the Vienna Convention
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement, that targeting diplomatic missions and headquarters represents a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
It is also a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and safety of diplomatic personnel and undermines internationally recognized rules of diplomatic action.
The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s firm position rejecting all acts of violence and terrorism that target diplomatic missions or undermine security and stability.
It affirmed its solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for everything that would enhance security and stability in the Republic of Iraq and the region.
