Tehran, Iran – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, a member of the interim leadership council, delivered a video message on Saturday. In this message, he offered a public and explicit apology to neighboring countries.
At the same time, he announced strict orders for the armed forces to cease attacks. These attacks have targeted several regional countries in recent days.
Apology to neighbors and acknowledgment of military “chaos”
In his letter, Pezeshkian admitted that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was “firing openly and indiscriminately.” This followed the joint US-Israeli attack that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and shook the foundations of the regime.
These admissions align with what Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi revealed in an interview with a foreign media outlet. He stated that the armed forces were acting “independently and unilaterally” in targeting Gulf Arab states, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. This contradicts previous official Iranian denials.
A sharp response to Trump and a firm refusal to surrender
In direct confrontation with mounting international pressure, Pezeshkian launched a scathing attack on US President Donald Trump. In addition, he rejected Trump’s call for “unconditional surrender,” issued Friday evening. He declared defiantly that this demand “will lead its proponents to their graves.”
At the same time, Pezeshkian warned neighboring countries against being drawn into what he called “foreign plots.” He called for resolving disputes through dialogue rather than escalation, adding: “Do not become pawns in the hands of imperialism.”
Home Front Call
Domestically, where deep divisions are surfacing, Pezeshkian issued an urgent appeal to the opposition. He urged them to “set aside all differences and grudges and defend the land and waters.”
This was an attempt to mend the rift caused by the assassination of the Supreme Leader and the rapidly deteriorating security situation.
Immediately following the attacks, the Revolutionary Guard launched indiscriminate missile strikes targeting several countries in the region.
This sparked widespread international condemnation and brought the region to the brink of all-out war. Pezeshkian then emerged today seeking to curb this uncontrolled escalation.
