Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Monday to deliver an “unimaginable” response to any Iranian attack on Israel. At the same time, Netanyahu called on citizens to “stand united” during what he described as complex times for the country.
“We are going through complex times, and we are prepared for every scenario,” Netanyahu said in an official statement. He emphasized that he had conveyed a clear message to the Iranian regime: “If they make what could be the gravest mistake in their history and attack the State of Israel, we will respond with a force they cannot even imagine.”
A call for unity before the Purim holiday
The Israeli Prime Minister added that the current situation “is not a time for arguments.” He stressed the need for national unity, saying, “In those days, on the eve of Purim, just as now, the people must stand together, shoulder to shoulder.” He expressed his confidence in the capabilities of the Israeli army and its soldiers.
American moves in the region
These statements come amid reports of a large US military buildup in the Middle East. The Times of Israel reported sightings of US refueling aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport.
A senior US State Department official also revealed that Washington has ordered non-essential government employees and their families to leave the US Embassy in Beirut. This move reflects escalating security concerns in the region.
The official indicated that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio still intends to visit Israel. However, the visit’s schedule is likely to be adjusted depending on how the situation develops.
These latest developments come against the backdrop of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. This is occurring amid mutual warnings and the possibility of further escalation in the region.
