Washington, DC – Steve Witkoff, the US government’s special envoy, revealed details of his meeting with Prince Reza Pahlavi. He described him as a “strong figure” deeply concerned about the future of his country.
In an interview with Fox News on Saturday evening, Witkoff explained that the meeting was at the direct request of US President Donald Trump.
He also noted that the current US administration is pursuing a policy of “flexibility and openness to new ideas.” This policy, he emphasized, is free from preconceived biases.
Green light from the White House
Wittkopf’s remarks complement President Trump’s stance, expressed on January 15.
At that time, Trump described Prince Reza Pahlavi as “a good person,”
affirming that Washington would respect the Iranian people’s choice should they accept their leader.
He added, “That would be perfectly acceptable to me.”
The pulse of the Iranian street
This diplomatic move coincides with ongoing protests inside Iran. Demonstrators in various cities chanted slogans calling for the restoration of the monarchy and chanting “Javid Shah” and “Pahlavi will return.”
They also raised slogans demanding the overthrow of the current regime, such as “Death to the dictator.”
Witkoff asserted that the final decision regarding Iran will ultimately be made according to “Trump’s policies.”
As a result, this opens the door to the possibility of a radical shift in the balance of power within the region.
