Tel Aviv, Israel – The Israeli army announced in an official statement issued on Saturday that it had carried out large-scale airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in the Baalbek region in the heart of Lebanon.
The army confirmed the elimination of a large group of leading and field elements belonging to the party’s missile unit.
Operation details: Targeting 3 strategic locations
The statement explained that the attack, carried out on Friday, targeted three different locations used by the party to manage and develop its missile systems. The operation was based on precise intelligence that detected suspicious movements by these elements.
Foiling “arms-building plans” and imminent attacks
According to the Israeli account, the targeted elements had recently been working to accelerate their armament.
This is achieved through working on advanced stages of combat readiness and developing the missile arsenal.
She also planned attacks by preparing to launch rockets and missiles toward Israeli territory. She also drew up operational plans targeting Israeli military forces and civilians.
Responsibility of the missile unit
The Israeli statement held Hezbollah’s “rocket unit” fully responsible for the recent rocket attacks targeting Israel, noting that it is currently actively planning new “attacks”.
The Israeli army concluded its statement by emphasizing the continuation of military operations deep inside Lebanon.
It read: “The IDF will continue to act against Hezbollah’s attempts to rebuild its capabilities and rearm,
and will act forcefully and decisively to eliminate any threat to the security of Israel’s citizens.”
