Tel Aviv, Israel – Two Israeli sources told CNN that Israel has raised its alert level and intensified its military preparations. This comes amid growing indications of a possible joint US-led attack against Iran in the coming days.
According to the sources, one of whom is a military official, Tel Aviv is increasingly skeptical about the course of nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran. At the same time, Israel is accelerating its operational and defense planning, despite the reported progress in the second round of talks held on Tuesday.
A possible decision awaits US approval.
One of the sources indicated that any potential attack—if authorized by US President Donald Trump—could exceed the scale of the 12-day confrontation last June. However, coordinated strikes between the US and Israel are expected.
The two sources added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a series of special security consultations this week to assess the level of preparedness. Military coordination has also been strengthened.
Security assessments and internal warnings
In this context, former head of Israeli military intelligence Amos Yadlin said that Israel is “much closer than ever” to launching a potential attack. He indicated that the current security climate necessitates a reassessment of movements and travel in the coming period.
The Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee also held a closed session with the commander of the Israeli army’s Home Front Command. The discussion focused on potential confrontation scenarios.
Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth said that Israel is “going through difficult times in its confrontation with Iran.” He emphasized that the government and the public are preparing for “all scenarios.”
Escalating regional tensions
These developments come amid escalating tensions in the region. There are also increasing indications of a US military buildup in the Middle East, coinciding with ongoing nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Ultimately, these circumstances place the region at a highly sensitive political and security juncture.
