Washington, DC – Former Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi urged US President Donald Trump to take decisive action to weaken the Iranian regime, as anti-government protests continue and the death toll rises.
In an interview with Fox News, Pahlavi said his country needs urgent humanitarian intervention
and concrete international steps to halt what he described as a bloody crackdown.
He asserted that the minimum death toll during the first two days of protests was 36,000,
though he acknowledged the difficulty in verifying the exact figures.
He also mentioned that tens of thousands have been arrested and hundreds of thousands injured.
Actions against the regime
The former Iranian crown prince proposed a package of US and international measures,
including neutralizing the Revolutionary Guard and tightening controls on oil tankers transporting Iranian crude beyond the reach of sanctions.
He also suggested freezing the assets of figures linked to the regime.
He added that protesters should be supported by facilitating internet access.
And he also stressed the importance of demanding the unconditional release of political prisoners.
He explained that these steps “will increase pressure on the regime
and demonstrate genuine support for the Iranian people.”
He asserted that the goal is to accelerate the transition to a “secular democratic” system.
He also emphasized that this transition must be through a transparent process under international supervision.
Protests and escalation
The former Iranian crown prince remarks come amid widespread protests in Iran, accompanied by reports of orders to shoot security forces and mass arrests. He also mentioned a “global day of action” in which demonstrators participated in cities around the world to support a change of leadership in Tehran.
There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities regarding the former crown prince statements. Meanwhile, developments on the ground continue, with the international community closely watching the crisis.
