Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country has reached an agreement with its European allies on new support packages in the energy and military sectors. These packages will be implemented within the next ten days. This will be before the fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24.
Zelensky stated in a post on the X platform that the agreement was reached during a Berlin Format meeting. This meeting was held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Approximately 12 European leaders participated in the meeting. He indicated that the aid will include support for the energy sector and the strengthening of defense capabilities. This will include air defense systems and missiles.
Urgent support for the energy and defense sectors
Kyiv is seeking additional support from its partners as Russian military pressure continues, both on the front lines and through intensified airstrikes targeting energy infrastructure. These attacks have caused widespread power outages during periods of extreme cold.
Zelensky stated that he is counting on the shipments arriving on schedule. He also expressed his country’s gratitude for the willingness of its European partners to provide support during this critical time.
Intense Russian escalation
The Ukrainian president revealed that Russia launched approximately 1,300 attack drones and 1,200 guided bombs in the past week alone. It also launched dozens of ballistic missiles, in an escalation he described as aimed at undermining Ukraine’s resilience before the anniversary of the war.
These developments come as Kyiv faces pressure from the United States to enter into peace negotiations. At the same time, it is seeking increased military and economic support from its European partners to continue countering Russian operations.
