Jerusalem, Palestine – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined four key conditions that he said must be included in any future diplomatic settlement between the United States and Iran. He stressed that simply halting uranium enrichment is “not enough” to guarantee Israel’s security.
High ceiling for negotiations
During a speech before the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations in Jerusalem, Netanyahu stressed that any agreement must include the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. He explained this should not be merely a freeze or restriction of enrichment activities.
He explained that a key condition is the transfer of all enriched uranium stockpiles out of Iran. This would prevent—as he put it—the possibility of reactivating the nuclear program in the future.
Missiles and support for factions are on the table
The Israeli prime minister indicated that any diplomatic agreement must also address Iran’s ballistic missile program. In addition, it should address what he described as Tehran’s support for armed groups in the region. He considered these issues no less important than the nuclear aspect.
Netanyahu’s remarks come as the international community awaits the outcome of indirect talks between Washington and Tehran regarding the Iranian nuclear program. This happens amid signs of renewed diplomatic activity.
Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas
In a related context, Netanyahu reiterated his pledge that the Gaza Strip “will never again pose a threat to Israel.” He expressed his hope that the disarmament of Hamas would be completed “easily.”
He revealed that Israeli forces had dismantled approximately 150 kilometers of Hamas’s tunnel network. This is out of an estimated 500 kilometers.
Netanyahu’s statements reflect Israel’s continued hardline stance against any settlement with Iran. This comes amid ongoing regional tensions related to the nuclear issue and the conflicts raging in the region.
