Amman, Jordan – King Abdullah II of Jordan, accompanied by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, left Amman on Sunday for a working visit to the British capital, London.
Strengthening partnerships and addressing regional crises
During his visit, King Abdullah is scheduled to meet with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for talks on ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United Kingdom across various sectors.
Regional issues and current developments will also top the agenda. This comes within the framework of ongoing coordination to enhance security and stability.
Aqaba Meetings Initiative
On the sidelines of the visit, the Jordanian monarch will chair a new round of the Aqaba Meetings initiative, hosted by London this year. Launched by His Majesty in 2015, this initiative aims to enhance international security and military coordination and cooperation. It also seeks to facilitate the exchange of expertise in combating terrorism and extremist ideology through a comprehensive approach.
Prince Faisal as Deputy to the King
In accordance with constitutional procedures, Prince Faisal bin Hussein took the constitutional oath as Deputy to King Abdullah, in the presence of the Cabinet, for the duration of His Majesty’s absence from the homeland.
