Abidjan, Ivory Coast – Several people were killed and others injured in a collision between two transport buses on a highway in southern Ivory Coast, in an incident that has once again highlighted the challenges of road safety in the country.
According to local sources, the accident resulted in fatalities and several injuries. Ambulance and rescue teams rushed to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals and provide first aid. Initial reports indicate that the accident was caused by a head-on collision between the two buses, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes, including the possibility of excessive speed or poor traffic conditions.
Local authorities confirmed the opening of an official investigation into the circumstances of the accident, amid calls to strengthen road safety measures and tighten controls on public transportation, especially on roads with high traffic volume.
